Hands-on, interactive displays to introduce the younger visitors to
sheep and their uses.

are of high quality, taught by talented experienced instructors.
Therefore class sizes are limited to offer individualized attention.

Nuno Felting on Silk Scarves Instructor: Mary Kramer Cost: $35
Nuno felting is a great new technique in modern felt making. Layers of wool and silk fibers are applied to a base fabric, then wet-felted together to create a very unique piece of wearable art. Explore this technique with Mary Kramer of Mt. Clemens by creating your own design on a silk scarf to take home.

Fantastic Felted Beads Instructor: Michele Sheppard Cost: $30
Learn the basic technique for creating these fantastic felted wool beads. These unique, whimsical beads are simple to make with only a few materials. Supercrafter Michele Sheppard will teach you the basic technique, then the only limit is your imagination. Each student receives enough materials to make a bracelet or small necklace in their complete kit.

3-D Wool Sheep Instructor: Sue Dumas Cost: $25
Join Sue Dumas in creating these adorable sheep. They are made from wool fibers using a technique called needle-felting. She teaches how, plus gives you plenty of ideas for making more creatures at home. Felting Needle included.

Weaving Pouches & Bags without a Loom Instructor: Ann Jacob Cost: $30
Try your hand at weaving by learning to make these seamless treasure bags, without any special equipment. Using a cardboard ”loom”, textile instructor Ann Jacob will teach you to create pouches and bags of any size or style. When you finish the weaving, simply pop the bag off the cardboard and you’re done!

“American Barnyard” Rug Hooking Primer Instructor: Lynne Kossarek Cost: $55
Lynne Kossarek of Never Enough Wool teaches you to create this originally designed hooked rug. She uses traditional rug hooking techniques and her own hand-dyed wool. Students receive all their materials in the class kit.

Mini-Gourd Necklaces Instructor: Lucille Scheer Cost: $25
Lucille Scheer, the Gourd Lady, teaches you to make this great necklace, using painted mini gourds. She’ll also make sure you know how to grow, cure, and clean your own gourds for future projects. Definitely a one-of-a-kind project!

Dyeing Silk Shibori Scarves Instructor: Mary Kramer Cost: $35
Join fiber artist Mary Kramer of Mt. Clemens to learn the ancient Japanese version of tie-dye, called shibori. You’ll learn a variety of folding and tying techniques, then dye you own silk scarf to take home.

Introduction to Spinning Instructor: Shelly Buckman Cost: $30
Get a taste for the centuries-old process of magically turning farm fresh wool into good wool yarn. Shelly Buckman of City Knits gives you a hands-on start into working with a spinning wheel in this introductory class. Class size is limited to 3 students, so pre-registration is highly suggested.

Join the folks from Good-Rich Honey for an informative session all about bees and honey. If you’ve wanted to keep bees yourself and/or produce and sell honey as a farm product, they can answer all your questions while you sample a little of their own product.

Dyeing Woolen Rainbows Instructor: Deb Cline Cost: $35
In a true do-it-yourself workshop, fiber guru Deb Cline of Maple Row Stock Farm offers students her knowledge and wisdom about dyeing wool yarn. All students will handpaint their own rainbow skein to take home, and all materials are included in the workshop fee. Do not miss this fabulous opportunity to take a class from Deb!

Felted Angora Mittens Instructor: Sue Wiley Cost: $45
Learn to make these one-of-a-kind felted mittens made of an angora/merino blend. They are luxurious, soft and incredibly warm. Sue Wiley of Wiley’s Woolies first teaches you to wet felt a large batt of materials. Then, you cut, decorate and lace up the most wonderful pair of mittens ever. All materials and decorations are included.

Create your own dazzling bookmark from recycled wool garments. Paula Consiglio of Paula’s Closet will teach you to needlefelt with roving and yarn, transforming an ordinary, old knitted garment into a magnificent bookmark. Kit includes enough materials to create two bookmarks.
