Dyeing a Silk Shibori Scarf Mary Kramer Skill: Dyeing Location: West A Fee: $35 Join fiber artist Mary Kramer of Mount Clemens to learn the ancient Japanese version of tie-dye, called Shibori. You’ll learn to fold and pole-wrap a silk scarf to be dyed, using a few of the many tying techniques and a little magic. Take your scarf home to impress your friends with your new skill. |

Weaving Pouches and Bags without a Loom Ann Jacob Skill: Weaving Location: West B Fee: $30 Try your hand at weaving by learning to make these seamless treasure bags, without any special equipment. Using a cardboard “loom”, textile instructor Ann Jacob will teach you to create pouches and bags of any size or style. When you finish the weaving, simply pop the bag off the cardboard and you’re done! |

Knitting Lace with Angora Sue Wiley Skill: Knitting Location: East A Fee: $35 Sue Wiley of Wiley’s Woolies raises wonderful angora rabbits. Learn to use their incredibly soft, warm fiber to knit your choice of either a scarf or handwarmers. You will learn to read a lace chart and how to incorporate the unique properties of angora into other projects. Previous knitting experience required. Students may bring needles from home, or purchase a set from the instructor (size 9 straights for the scarf, or a set of size 3 double points for the handwarmers). |

Baby Booties from Baby Dolls June Hinton Skill: Knitting Location: East B Fee: $25 Perhaps you’ve noticed the colorful balls of woolen roving sold by many of our vendors. Did you know you can knit with it? June Hinton of Windy Oak Farm will teach you to knit these adorable booties using roving from her own Baby Doll Sheep. The project is quick, warm and very easy. Previous knitting experience is required but June provides everything else you need. |

Nuno Felting on Silk Scarves Mary Kramer Skill: Nuno Felting Location: West A Fee: $35 Nuno felting is the fastest growing technique in modern felt making. Layers of wool and/or silk fibers are applied to a base fabric, and then wet felted to create an interesting, and very unique textural and visual treat. Explore this fabulous technique with Mary Kramer of Mt. Clemens by creating your own design on a silk scarf. All materials are provided and students take their completed project home with them. |
